Who can repair a bathroom fan?
I noticed about a month ago that my bathroom “stinky” fan was leaking water. I thought it might just be from the humidity as I have read about. But then I also thought about the fact that we had just had two weeks straight of heavy rain and that there were also water stains showing on my bathroom ceiling as well. So I call a repair guy friend to look at my roof and he says yeah the vent fan wasn’t installed properly so he put some caulk, (spelling), around the vent to help with the water penetration. But, I think it is leaking again. I was just wondering who in the world I would call to take care of this-electrician? HVAC people? Any similar experiences?
Check with your insurance company. They can sometimes refer people they trust or other customers trust and have used for home maintenance repairs.
i would call a roofer or even some one in construction workers but i would a least first call a roofer to see what they would say
A bathroom fan repair guy.
you need to address the water problem first, the roof has to be fixed, and you won’t get any leaks,if the fan is working leave it alone.
This is a product that is a personal favorite of mine, and is sworn by all of the roofing contractors that I work with. It is the only permanent fix that any of us have found for roofing patches. It is easy to apply and very long lasting. It can be applied by brush or trowel. I have an addition that has always leaked until I found this product.
I believe that what is happening is that your roof vent has a gap in it that is allowing water to get passed the roof line. once it goes around the roof line it will run down the vent tube and then right to the fan. If the roofing guy only put caulking around it (he shouldn’t have) the caulking is not strong enough to hold the roofing together. It would quickly crack and be leaking again. You can find this product at Ace Hardware stores. Have him use it and reseal the vent. It will hold this time.
Hope this helps.

In my opinion they are not wort repairing, just get a new one installed ,it would be cheaper.
nooo if is leaking from the roof you need to call a roofer is nothing wrong with the fan you have to call the guy again and he has to do something else tell him to put a piece of metal around the vent that will go
