Bathroom repair: How long before i can apply Caulk over Grout? How long after I caulk before i can wet tub?

Happy New year, and happy bath repair!

Please let me know how long I have to let grout dry before I apply caulking and how long after that I can a) allow some moisture in tub, b) take a well deserved shower?

Also any drying techniques would help.

thank you and happy 2008. May all your bathrooms be drip free

grout needs 24 hous to dry. caulk can then be applied. Most latex dry in a few hours, silicon may take another 24. check the tube. It will tell you cure times. To make sure it drys properly, do not apply too thick a bead, 1/2 inch max. Also make sure the room is warm, over 55 degrees F.

If you did a decent grout job 2-4 hrs would be fine. If the grout isn’t solid at the tub line, dry B-4 caulking. Caulk should dry 24 hrs min. Water will not hurt the grout, but the tub should be dried b-4 caulking.
